Wrinkly Run Report
 Sunday July 29th 2007

Hi to you all.
I have been asked by TQ to do a quick??? write up about the Wrinky Run so here goes.
As you know we have just held our, now annual Wrinkly Run, now in it's third year.
We have raised, for selected charities, somewhere around the £10,000 mark at a guess, but don't quote me on that.
Charities being MRS scanner, Sunflower Trust, and this year we supported the Brain injury & Stroke charity, Headway Guernsey.
As you all know the day takes an enormous amount of work, and this year was no exception.
All the sponsorship forms had been delivered to various outlets around the island, thanks to Geoff  the Ormerer.
Tracey Carter as she is now known, collected a staggering 21 prizes kindly donated by various companies locally, thanks to all of you, you know who you are.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the planning, setting up, and helping out on the day.
A real team effort by all, thanks again.
Ok , here goes, on the day (Sunday) everyone, I expect looked out of the window and thought, bu**gger it's raining.
Will it be cancelled or not???
Well as you know we got up very early, or some of us did, and proceeded to Vazon carpark, where we started to set up the railings, Chris Ure must have had an accident in bed as he was there already!
Myself and Mark Brouard went to pick up the trailer from Regency Events, who kindly loaned us it for the event, special thanks to Bob who arranged the trailer for us through John Morgan, cheers John and Bob.
While we were doing that Martyn Brehaut was collecting Chris Smith's Huge motor home, blimey It's like a block of flats on wheels if you haven't seen it.
Ricky 'Diesel Dave' Rosamond, arrives with all the chain + poles, steps etc, loaned by Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, thanks Rick, he was working so couldn't participate on the ride.
All set up and ready to go for a 1pm start, It was still drizzling unfortunately, but decided to carry on regardless, we won't melt will we?.
The passengers start to arrive and hand over their sponsorship forms and more importantly the money.
After a quick safety talk from Colin Le Prevost, we are ready to leave with the 1st batch of Wrinklies, I am the 1st bike out (it just happened that way, honest!!), and with photo's taken, we set off on a right turn towards L'Eree on a 35minute, 14.5 mile tour of the picturesque south west coast of the island, just past L'Eree we head inland up le Coudre to St Peters village, then right turn towards the airport, turning right at the Venture Inn, past the Mallard Hotel, Bruliaux corners, Torteval, then on to the Imperial hotel, right turn back onto the coast road and back to Vazon.
The whole day was a success, with the weather clearing up eventually, we finally took the last passengers at 4.30pm ish.
A quick story, from my day was that I saw three old ladies, totally oblivious to what was happening at Vazon, they were just out for a quiet walk! I asked them if they were here to go for a ride, and the said no, anyway I managed to coax them to Jackie & Sue at the trailer, and they sold them T-shirts and the ladies all paid for rides, what a result eh!? ps if you want to see their picture, it's on our GTMC web site, they look like they had a great time judging by their faces.
Anyway after all that, we were all invited to the handing over of the cheque for money raised on the day and about dozen of us went up to St Martins Parish community centre, where we met Shelaine Green from Headway Guernsey, and listened to a very moving talk from a member of Headway London, his name is Dean, and he gave us a talk about his personal experience of his injuries due to a night out, and his fight to get back to normal. He is amazing, and amusing and definitely not one to give up, we were all gobsmacked while listening to Dean. He said he will be back, as he loves Guernsey. ps ladies he is single and looking around, if you know what I mean.
After Deans talk, Mark Brouard gave a speech on behalf of the GTMC, and handed over a cheque for £2,000 to Shelaine, "applause" and thanks from Shelaine on behalf of Headway Guernsey to our club, and to The Greenman MC who also have been busy raising money for Headway, re Bonzo.s ride out which is going to be made an annual event.
PS thanks to all the riders from the various clubs who helped out on the day especially the Hogs & Greenman clubs.
Well that seems to be it so,
All the best from,
Stevie C your friendly GTMC secretary.

Just some snaps from the day, I'm sure there are plenty more out there.
