A year in the GTMC (2008)
Hello to all fellow GTMC members,
A letter, from your Club Secretary reminiscing the year, 2008.
It wasn’t a bad year as such was it? Apart from the awful weather!
And unfortunately losing our Buddy Roy, miss you matey.
Also me having my first bad crash, on my wife’s bike, not mine.
It started with a brilliant club dinner at La Grande Mare Hotel, organised by
Andy & Carrie, thanks again, and they are doing it again for 2009!!!!!.
Then as the weather starts to warm, a bit?? We all go on our annual trip to Vannes in southern Brittany, in April, it was a good trip a lot of fun good food, good riding, great company, only Rodney’s bike falling over on the way back marred the trip.
Unfortunately, that was to be the last Vannes trip, due to a lack of interest, I agree it was getting a bit stale, but as I write, no alternative as yet?????.
Then for a lucky few, we had the Magnificent 7 trip of about 2.500 miles circumnavigating France in June, and very good it was too, very well organised.
For Trace, & me it was our first trip camping on the bikes, we had 10 days in Brittany absolutely fab!! Only problem, my bike broke down and had to be fixed before returning home, but apart from that, we will do it again!! Any takers.
Then in September we had our annual Wrinkly run, which as always, was a runaway success, this year we managed to raise through pillion sponsorship £2.600 or there a bouts, congrats to all who were involved, in the organising and on the day, big thanks to you all.
Biarritz is the big trip for June 2009 with at least half the club having paid Deposits to Martyn Brehaut who is sorting everything out. Cheers Mart!!.
Don’t forget the first meeting at the Bowl on the 5th of January 2009 7.30 for 8.00pm
And finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I said earlier in just over a month’s time (January 31st 2009) we will be back at La Grande Mare Hotel, enjoying another GTMC annual dinner, be there or be square.
I for one can’t wait.
